Tihar is one of the Nepal’s largest and most important Hindu festival, celebrated with great enthusiasm. Tihar or Deepawali, which follows Dashain in October or early November, is a five-day festival of lights in Nepal that honors deities, animals, and family bonds, including Laxmi (goddess of wealth), crows, dogs, and cows. Each day has special rituals, such as worshipping dogs, lighting homes with lamps and flowers, and celebrating Bhai Tika, where sisters apply tika to their brothers’ foreheads for their well-being. The festival promotes love, gratitude, and harmony between humans, animals, and the divine.
